You knew this was going to happen at some point and yes it most likely will just be me in here.

So yeah Tokusatsu from the famous Godzilla series of films to the iconic Ultraman, Kamen Rider, Super Sentai and Metal Heroes series to that one Spider-Man show with the giant robot to much more. Tokusatsu is the topic so talk the Tokusatsu talk.

And to bring up a few things to talk about here.

Why do we like Tokusatsu? I mean it's so cheap and goofy looking compared to other movies and shows, so why do adults keep watching these series? I say for a few reasons. You got nostalgia for one, from my time on the Internet I see it on both ends of the west and east here, Power Rangers fans, now adults still watch it. Same in Japan with Super Sentai adult viewers. And just like in the west you get made fun of for watching it if you are an adult. Sometimes things really are just the same around the world. lol And of course so many Japanese works, serious and not so serious, reference Kamen Rider, Ultraman and all these series so even if people don't watch the newer stuff it still sticks with you. 
And just like here in the west with its superheroes you can find deconstructions and reconstructions, something about these simple stories always gets people wanting to get inside them and see why they work.

Another reason I say it's sort of like theater plays vs movies/shows. Yes both can have great actors but to me at least it's always interesting to see what the one with the lower budget can do with its low budget. Sometimes there is more heart on that side too. Yes even with some of these shows being huge toy ads I still say you can find genuine heart in some of them.

I'm sure someone better with words can pin it down better why we like Tokusatsu but I wanted to give my own quick little shot at it.

As for the here and now of Tokusatsu.

Shuriken Sentai Ninninger is at its halfway point and done with its summer arc. Got to say the show could be better but these last few episodes have been fun. We had a Frankenstein's monster holding anime body pillows saying moe. That gets some points from me.

Kamen Rider Drive only has 4 more episodes to go. The final arc has been pretty interesting, characters are dropping dead now and there have been many good moments and the acting has just been great. It might not get people talking like the Gaim ending did but I still say it's good. Also I will miss Shinnosuke for many reasons but the main one is his actor is tall. Seeing him stand next to space god Kouta was funny as fuck.

And on October 4th Kamen Rider Ghost will be starting and it looks pretty good, the suit is great. Not much more to say about it right now.

And on November 10th Gosei Sentai Dairanger comes out on dvd in the west just like Zyuranger did not too long ago. And oh boy is the cover ugly.



The main five doing these poses and then you have Kou with his skateboard doing a too cool for school pose and I can't stop laughing.

Anyway I don't have anything else to add right now. So I can't wait to see all the posts you guys make since I know we have such huge Tokusatsu fans here.
