I am not a fan of Assange for a number of reasons, but this is part of a continued assault on whistle-blowers and press freedom more broadly which I do not support. Some level of cognitive-dissonance between what feels emotionally satisfying and a more sober, rational analysis about the implications of a given policy... is required to have a political stance worth a damn. If it need be said because our resident simpleton has returned, nobody is saying that everything should be leaked with impunity, but there's quite a difference between leaking strategic information and leaking the existence of crime or corruption. Resident simpleton? Strong words from the court jester. I see all your ass-kissing hasn't earned you moderator status yet, how unfortunate.
Not that somebody like you would understand the concept of accepting responsibility for one's own actions but if somebody like Snowden for example wanted to make a moral stand they would have stayed in the country and accepted the legal implications of the decision they made. Not flee to Russia and be used by Putin as a propaganda piece.
He probably could have stayed in that embassy for a lot longer or gotten asylum somewhere else if he wasn't such a horrible guest. What sort of genius threatens the country hosting him like he did?
