Some folks are genuinely spectating about Dennis Rodman's role in this talk as a mediator between the two world leaders and how much influence he could have over the meeting outcome.
What a time to be alive.
Policy is my interest, not personality (not more than its policy relevance). If Trump or any world leader whom I generally disagree with does anything that deserves credit, I'll give them credit. De-nuclearization is good. I sincerely hope against hope that Dear Leader can get something positive done, but with Trump, everything resides firmly in "I'll believe it when I see it ... and also subject it to a brief waiting-period just to be sure." It's like the Carrier thing. The initial news was a victory, on paper, but it also turned out to be a con.
With Bolton, Pompeo, and hell even Pence over his shoulder, I have no real faith in this ending anywhere near what I would consider ideal. Also, after what happened with Libya, US credibility overseas is seriously shot. Kim Jong Un is evil, but is not said to be an idiot, which makes it unlikely that he will de-nuclearize in any truly significant capacity because that's the only reason anyone would do so in his shoes. We are the reason why other countries want nukes, and why quite frankly none of them can be blamed for it.
