Im also presently a grad student working on my MA. Long story short im looking for someone who is able to make grammaticality judgment calls on syntactic constructions in either Swedish(preferred) Norwegian, Dänisch, or Icelandic(not as preferred but also). Any volunteers? Wouldn't require much and requires no technical knowledge just your gut, and i emphasis gut ignore the school yard rules so to speak, intuition on your own language. TLDR: i need someone to throw sentences at and tell me if theyre good or bad or the degree to which they are good or bad. And maybe make up some fun bizzare scientifically interesting sentences. (Speakers of Romani, not Romanian/Rumanian, also welcome, und auch deutsch, mein ist gut aber nicht gut genug zu etwas so genau machen.) Feel free to post here or pm me. Its purely volunteer, and can be done over asynchronous comms.

I know this is definately an international community, and I'm fairly certain there are some speakers of the target language out there on this site. The shared community increases solidarity and it makes it easier for me to ask the questions I need to without being super nervous, but if no one bites within in the week or so (because by then i should have my topic narrowed more specifically) I'll probably hit up livemocha (which has been turned into a language exchange) or DuoLingo. See the issue is less about what is "prescriptively" grammatical and what is actually allowed in the languages in question. If it was all about prescriptive grammar that would be fine i suppose, but I need a native speaker to make judgement about how correct/allowable (grammatical) things like say in english: "Who_i did john say that stephan believed that greg had seen t_i giving terry a purple pencil?" where t_iis the trace of the who in its base generated position in the syntactic structure of english and has multiple antecedents due to something we call successive cyclic movement in Generitive Syntax (a supposedly universal aspect of grammar). Grammarly, I suspect might tell me it's an ungrammatical sentence however native speakers Know intuitively that at least one of the 3 possible readings is grammatical. What i'd be looking for is someone who wouldn't mind me throwing sentences like that in any of those languages at them or who could produce similar sentences like that . I'm less interested in the example i used and more interested in things that have multiple traces in weird spaces where syntactically we wouldn't expect them to is the easiest way of saying it xD. Grammarly is a great tool for making sure everything is "school yard" safe, prescriptivist grammar, but it can't really give me the judgement calls i'll end up needing at some point good suggestion though. I hadn't realized they branched it out to do multiple languages.
