I don't like organizing stuff into sequential lists, so I'll just name one that I love the most and that came out this year:
Fire Pro Wrestling World is my GOTY, even though it only recently came out of early access. I can't praise Spike Chunsoft enough for not only reviving the series, but for also bringing it to the PC via Steam and for fixing a bunch of long standing bugs from previous installments and for having added and STILL adding a ton of new content and features for free with continued patching in addition to squashing bugs.
I haven't overall played THAT many games released in 2017.
There's Mass Effect Andromeda that while I didn't hate, I'm not going to say it's the best thing I've played this year. Then there's Torment: Tides of Numenera that officially released in early 2017, but I've barely gotten started on it and it's been on the backburner forever, so I can't judge it fairly yet. There's the Life Is Strange prequel which was good, but nothing too incredible, which is how I'd ultimately also describe that Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs game I was hyping up some months ago which also came out this year. Expeditions: Viking was also good but not great, Telltale's Guardians of the Galaxy was...ok, I've got a ton of hours put into Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 but I'm not going to call the yearly release of a sports game my GOTY and Total War: Warhammer 2 is really good but I've been preoccupied with other games so I've not gotten enough time with it yet to call it my GOTY.
I think that's all of the stuff released this year that I've played.
