Is this a thing? has anyone discussed this...

Basically someone just goes like "Rubiks cube" or "IQ tests" or "gifted child" or whatever, and suddenly they are protected from criticism. 

Like is anyone really permitted to just take down Rubik's cubes? It's either you can't solve it because you don't get it, or it's valid, no can be like "you know I think this game just sucks."
