Played Valkyria Revolution up to the first save point, so basically the tutorial. I really hope the combat picks up past the tutorial cause it seems pretty limp right now. Too many characters introduced right off the bat as well result in a rather shallow introduction. Not a great first impression, feelings pretty strongly they should have stuck with tactical format the first game had. I realize the first game was a sleeper hit so they're probably trying to revamp for a bigger impact but right now the game and art design just reeks of pretty shallow marketing strategies that take away from what I'd expect from a Valkyria game.

Is Tales of Berseria worth it if I've now twice tried to get into Tales of Zestiria before giving up after 15-ish hours? I would've given the story and characters more time to grab my attention (which they hadn't at that point yet), but I fucking hated the combat and the jumbled, hot mess that the game made out of explaining the gameplay mechanics.

Hmm, maybe I'll get it once it's on sale. Have a bunch of other stuff to get through before that like all three Trails in the Sky games when I can manage to not get distracted and just playing something that doesn't require any real attention to story or dialogue like PES, Total War or Grim Dawn where I can just mindlessly zone out and play while listening to podcasts or whatever
