My own thoughts: This is the first Telltale game where I was strongly disappointed in the ending. Everything was an exercise in futility. I mean, yeah choice in these games is an illusion or not. But the Foresters were boned from the outset and nothing changed that.
Ethan and Roderick struggled to hold Ironrath together, and in the end, the keep is aflame, conquered by the Whitehills, and its people scattered or dead. This cannot be stopped Mira's efforts to secure some sort of alliance at King's Landing utterly fails. Her attempts to stop Lud's sellsword army form being formed is too little, too late. And unless she sells herself to one of the very people out to destroy her House, she ends up with her head cut off Asher's job of securing an army for the Foresters is always going to be inadequate. It cannot compete with Lud's army.
Gared's story arc is the only one that could be said to "succeed" in that he finds the North Grove. But why it's so important continues to elude us. Amd his own fate is as up in the air as any of the (surviving) characters.
At least in TWD, Lee is able to save Clementine.
I'm left to wonder, like others, if this ending is just sequel bait. But given the number of characters who could be alive or dead (Roderick, Asher, Mira, Lud, Gryff, Duncan, Royce, Tom) I don't know how that's possible.
So, as I said, very disappointing. A second season has already been confirmed.
