Loved the beta but I've come to the conclusion that it's not a game I feel "I must own" now. The amount of effort and emphasis Blizzard has spent on creating this intriguing lore and characterizing the zany characters is wasted by seggregating it entirely to wiki pages or the internet as opposed to being a part of the game. In fact, the actual story is about as detached from the actual game's content as compassion is to a Republican--You see this video of Soldier 76 performing vigilante justice on a bunch of twats, and in the game he is mowing down his fellow Overwatch members. It made more sense with Team Fortress 2 here it feels a bit disingenuous.
Now, I wouldn't say Blizz is known for their amazing storytelling and writing, in fact it can probably best be compared to one bloke's daughter's Mad Lib collection. Although if Blizzard decides to add a single player campaign that pays homage to the stories they've created in the shorts, or whatever then I'm in, even for the multiplayer but so far I'm not onboard. MP-only games can only hold my attention span for so long before I decide to play something else.
