THR reports that The Rocketeers is being written by Matt Spicer and Max Winkler (who also co-wrote the upcoming Flower) and produced by Brigham Taylor (The Jungle Book), the L.A. Clippers’ Blake Griffin and the Carolina Panthers’ Ryan Kalil. The story is set six years after the original Rocketeer and revolves around a young African-American female pilot, who finds the original Rocketeer’s gear and uses it to battle a corrupt rocket scientist seeking to steal the rocket pack technology, just as the Cold War begins in full.
Not to be a spoilsport but just how many African-American female pilots were there in the 1950s?

Well if it was set during the war it would have made a bit more sense since many women were stepping up to take care over jobs left open due to all the men going to war. The 1950's always has that Stepford Wives feel were all the women were pushed back into the Kitchen.

Also isn't The Rocketeer a Pulp adventure Series? I feel like setting it in the cold war ruins that aesthetic. Remember Indiana Jones 4?
Pulp as a style, or a thing only really works in the 30s and 40s.
