So anyone here been reading the new canon novelizations, or plan to read?

Been curios of getting one or two, and have Aftermath on my list along with Dark Disciple (mainly because it features Quinlan Vos).

I've been wanting to read those along with Tarkin and A New Dawn, just haven't had the money and my local store doesn't sell Star Wars novels anymore.

I'm kinda glad that Kylo Ren isn't a sith. They've been a prominent part of the star wars mythos for a while, but Palpatine and Vader were also supposed to be the last ones, cause of the whole policy that Bane put in place. So just making Kylo a sith would have been really easy to do to make this a rehash of other stuff. But not doing it allows them to go in new directions, and new is, in my opinion, necessary for this movie to not get crushed under comparing it to the EU stories to death or coming off as too conventional.

I'm waiting for the paperback version of the Lords of the Sith novel.

Some part of me hopes Finn and Rey end up as lovers ... if only to put an end to the whole "Jedi shouldn't love"stupidity + annoy the shit out of those idiotic racist fucks that comment on every trailer and picture wherever you go in the Internet...I should stop reading the Imdb-forums, my patience for trolls grows thinner with every year...

The whole jedi shouldn't be in a relationship thing didn't bother me. To me, considering their emotions dictate their powers and alignment, and the whole being a Jedi is a full time commitment and not some 9 to 5 shift, it would make sense to stay away from something as emotionally chaotic as a romantic relationship.

What happens if the two of them break up? Or get into a fight, as romantic partners are tend to do? Or worse yet, what if a Jedi is facing a near death situation? Most people in relationships experience anger, pain, and general hardships, as part of the joy of romantic relationships. Love hurts, as the saying goes, and it's affects can hurt deep, deep, into a persons psyche. Doing things out of love or a desire to be loved can drive people to do some pretty crazy things, crazy good and crazy bad.

That's what happens with normal people. But Jedi aren't normal people. Jedi are people with incredible powers, whose emotional states dictate whether they're gonna be peaceful defenders or genocidal maniacs, due to their stronger connection to the force.

And since the dark side is a path that is derived from strong negative emotions, having them be in a situation that is a breeding ground for negative emotions, and putting them that much closer to falling to the dark side, is a stupid move.

Hell, Luke almost fell to the dark side because Vader offhandedly suggested making leia his potential apprentice. What's gonna happen if someone makes a far worse comment about a loved one, or worse, that loved one says something truly hurtful to the jedi in question?

Darksiders yes. But sith? Let's be real here. The sith being this ancient thing that they are, aught to be a bigger deal. Hell, even canon embraces palpatine making a fighting force of darksiders, look at the inquisitors from Rebels.

But making them sith's? Making them darths? That was one of the points I didn't like about the EU a lot. Siths just sprang up out of no where, and the way they conducted themselves became bland and generic. Need an antagonist for star wars? Just slap some black paint on some robes, give them a red lightsaber, and call them Darth Edge-Pun.

Kinda takes the piss out of being a sith, when literally some random asshat from Tatooine can just crown himself Hyper-Master Sith and have an entire army of Darth Maul Wannabies at his beck and call. When it's that easy to be "sith", being sith stops being any sort of big deal.

It would have been great had they put that in the game in the form of a campaign
