I read an article about why australia should have nukes, hold on. warisboring.com/articles/australia-needs-nukes/"Australia is highly vulnerable to long-range missile attack, including those carrying nuclear payloads. Despite Australia being a continental power, almost all its population is concentrated in a half-dozen major cities — easy targets for small numbers of warheads. In a high-intensity conflict between the United States and China, it is conceivable that China may target Australia with long-range nuclear missiles as a step up the escalation ladder, demonstrating to the United States its capacity, and willingness, to conduct nuclear strikes over intercontinental ranges. In this eventuality, extended nuclear deterrence would hardly be credible. Retaliating on Australia’s behalf would demonstrably mean accepting large-scale nuclear attack by China on the continental United States." You guys feel safe yet? I doubt they would. Australia is far too valuable. I know, Whaaaaaat? But Australia, despite being a sun blasted desert, full of poisonous giant insects designed to kill you and the home of giant jumping mice; is incredibly wealthy in natural resources. Coal Australia is the largest net exporter of coal in the world and it accounts for 29% of the global coal exports. Iron Ore Major producer of iron ore in the world, has some of the largest deposits and has a substantial share of the Economic Demonstrated Resources. Australia extracts a total of about 28 billion tons. Of which about 639 million tons are exported. 50% of China’s annual 0.77 billion tons of iron ore is provided by Australia. That's probably declined in light of China's slowing economic growth, but it's still approximately 300 million tons of ore per year. Gold The world’s second largest producer of gold is Australia, after China. The annual gold production is approximately 10% of the total gold produced in the world, valued at A$15.1 billion. The major export markets for Australia are India and the United Kingdom. Bauxite The largest producer of bauxite in the world (nearly 90 million tons annually) supplies high value downstream products as well. Uranium Currently, it is the third largest producer in the world after Kazakhstan and Canada. Total annually extracted tonnage valued at A$1.07 billion. By 2030, it is predicted that the country’s uranium production will more than double. Natural Gas Australia is the 3rd largest exporter of Liquid Natural Gas in the world. The primary importer of Australia’s natural gas is Japan. In 2012, 49 billion cubic meters of natural gas was produced and 28.1 billion cubic meters of gas was exported. If Fallout has taught me anything, it's that the Chinese will invade. No way they'd nuke that amount of natural resources and leave them unusable due to radioactive fall out for the next hundred years. Crusty, I'd get a copy of Mao's little red book if I were you. Prepare for the Grorious Revorution! Aw man, I was going to like this post until I read the last word, why do you people have to be like this? :(
