A battery that won't die for upwards to 50 years is being worked on, but as far as unending energy, no.... That's impossible, the source will always have a break in it at some point in time. Nothing lasts forever. That's true but not entirely. Self-sustaining nuclear fusion is a thing. The sun is basically exactly that. True, every star, including our sun, will eventually die, so technically you're right. But in practice, if we manage to create a self-sustaining nuclear reactor, we'll basically have a source of energy that is for all intents and purposes, eternal. I agree, but no engineer, no scientist, no electrician would call it a battery. Then it's a reactor or a generator. A battery is specifically used to store chemicals that can be converted into electric energy.
