The earth is positioned exactly between the sun and the moon now, causing a lunar eclipse, which covers the moon in the earth's shadow. Because the earth's atmosphere breaks up the light that passes it, the moon still receives some light, but it's completely red. Therefor this phenomenon is also known as a 'blood moon'. The blood moon will be very visible and easy to spot if you're in Europe. Not sure about the USA and Australia. So if you're reading this right now and it's not over yet, go outside and check out the moon!

It's the closest possible to Earth making it a Supermoon. So a total eclipse of a Supermoon is even more rare than just a regular Bloodmoon. Won't happen again in many, many years.

I remember I did see a perigree moon that looked ENORMOUS a few years ago in Jersey. Almost looked like it was about to collide with the Earth too lol. The color of it was orange though.
