If I was making a film about primal civilisations, it wouldn't be some human + dinosaur society, nor would it be a Acopolypto rip off.
I would find some geologists and palaeontologists and try to tell a story that is closer to real life.

The height of all actors must be below 5 foot.
Prosthetics must be used to make them look but ugly and covered in lots of hair (yes even the women).

As for speech, there would be no spoken dialogue. Just a whole lot of grunts.
With no dialogue, the film would be 100% reliant on show don't tell.

There is a movie like that. With Ron Perlman. Quest For Fire, I think it was called. Pretty damn good too.
