I thought they'd pull out the "Alfred is dying" card (or at least seriously ill), not him leaving because he hates to see what Bruce's crusade is doing to both him and the people he comes into contact with. Rather obvious though that even though I told Alfred I'd quit if he stayed, that's not going to last. Probably the difference in a potential season 3 would be that either you're forced to put on the suit again for some reason in ep 1 (or have been doing it behind his back for some time) if Alfred stayed and then he'll judge you a bit while kinda understanding. Or if you let him leave he'll come back in the first episode after maybe seeing some news report from Gotham that has him worried or something along those lines because of course he's in the end always going to be there for Bruce when he really needs him. He's ten times the father to him than Thomas ever was. I might have fucked up my continuing Catwoman romance though, I'm not sure. They got together when she came back, teamed up and trusted her 100% of the way, and unlike season 1 I now felt in ep 5 of this season that it was the right time to drop the L bomb without scaring her off as she's saving Bruce's life. But that was the last time she showed in the entire last episode, and I never got another chance to get her out from under Waller's thumb after the scene on the rooftop that vigilante Joker interrupts.  |
