WE REMAIN NEUTRAL ON THE REMAKE! KIND OF EXCITING BUT ALSO SKEPTICAL! FF7 WAS AMAZING THOUGH! STILL PLAY IT TODAY! WE ALSO LIKED FF6, FF8, FF9, AND FF10! KIND OF STOPPED CARING AFTER THAT POINT! WE NEVER REALLY GOT INTERESTED IN THE CURRENT/RECENT FF GAMES! BUT WE ALWAYS LIKE FF7 FOR ITS STORY, CHARACTERS, GAMEPLAY ETC. IF ANYTHING, WE WISH THEY MADE AN ACTUAL MOVIE BASED ON THE STORY AND NOT SOMETHING SHITTY LIKE ADVENT CHILDREN! THAT MOVIE AND STORY SUCKED KROGAN QUAD! VORCHA BURNED IT AFTER WATCHING IT! YUCKY!!

I doubt they will make any major changes as I believe they know the fanbase will just have a shitstorm if they did (lets be serious though the fanbase will just have shitstorm anyway).

Personally I feel there will be some minor things done with the translation to bring it more in line with the original story (cause there were some things that were toned down in the original or changed due to cultural differences at the time).

However I have seen some movements online demanding they tone down the sexuality of some of the female characters, I doubt anyone will actually listen to these but I have seen them.

Some of the puzzles in the original version were simplified for people outside of Japan as well so I wonder if they will use the original puzzles or simplified ones.



Not getting this one myself as this is a very polarizing game, for some people it was there introduction to RPG's and they love it, for others it was way to simplified compared to previous RPG's and relied to heavily on FMV's which they didn't like - I fall into the latter catagory

In previous games the equipment was much more expansive with way more abilities and bonuses that made you ponder if getting a main weapons was better than the current weapon that was slightly weaker but had a good special effect.  FF7 I never felt that it was just go to next town get new weapon armour, go to next town get new weapon armour, plus they over streamlined armour to or two pieces were before you could get four or five pieces depending on the game so you could again pic and choose defense vs. special abilities.  Way more options in the previous games compared to 7.

Battle system was simple for me anyway since I could get through the game with little to no strategy where in previous games I had to take into account possible weaknesses the boss had as well as try to counter it's strengths with certain armours that were available (again something 7 lacked as I never once felt I needed to change equipments for fights)  I could power through easy in 7 while previous games required more finesse in the execution.  The only time I had an issue in combat was the final boss fight with Sephiroth because he kept spamming his FMV attack where you had to wait 5-10 minutes between turns - I actually turned to game off because it got boring.

Also because I said simplified doesn't mean the previous games were complicated, it just means you had more freedom in how you approached the game scenarios.

Materia grinding........ this is sadistic.


Also I am not trying to bait with this, I am just being honest, I played all the previous games in the series (even getting the original 3 and 5 before they were ever officially released - the job systems were a breath of fresh air and offered so much customization to your play style) and they just felt they had much more challenge and freedom than 7.  In FF7 I just felt like someone was grabbing me by the hand and walking me through the game and slapping me every time I tried to do something it didn't want me to do.

I loved mixing and matching the jobs.

I could be an monk and black mage hybrid or a white mage samurai hybrid.
Perhaps I could be a ninja who uses blue magic.

3 and 5 had some truly fantastic ideas for combat.
My favourite job has to be the sorcerer who weaves magic into their sword for some incredibly devastating attacks.

Been a Final Fantasy fan for 18 years. Started with VII. Love VII. The usual speech.

In my experience charting opinions on this remake across NeoGAF, GameFAQs, BSN, and so forth, there seem to be about as many people who want the same game in shiny presentation as there are folks who look forward to an action-intensive reformation. Thankfully for the latter camp, Square has already made it clear that things will change, and the battle system will be reworked.

Thankfully for me, I'm in that camp.

I hope the combat excels with the remake.
